Socio-Political food for thought

For every person in the world there is a different weltanschauung.
Once, people were exposed to different world views at the local tavern. Travelers from all over could discuss their differing viewpoints, religions etc over a few pints. This was great if you lived in a destination city like New York or London. If you lived someplace less "tourist enriched" your access to new ideas could be a bit more limited. Culture and ideas are like the gene pool: the more diversity the more they grow. If it stagnates, like inbreeding, it begins to cause problems.
With the internet now reaching the most far flung places on Earth, people can be exposed to a whole host of new ideas. Ranging from the ancient to the new to the down right ridiculous its all out there for the seeker to take in.
